Spring has arrived and the pools are filled up, the temperatures are now tolerable, and everybody is swimming! Pools all around North America and Europe are now entering their peak-usage period as are the heating systems used to keep them comfortable. A good many local supply houses are not always able to keep up with the Spring-time rush of repairs necessary for pool heaters, including those systems by Laars Heating Systems. Often the possibility of making the Memorial Day or Fourth of July (in the U.S.) holidays is met with little success. Online suppliers like parts4heating.com can supply parts overnight to service technicians around the country – even around the world.
The catalog of in-stock parts at parts4heating.com is extensive and all the online supplier is able to ship overnight to anywhere in the U.S. just in time for that holiday weekend party. Often local technicians won’t have the part on their truck or in their shop and the local supply houses might also be out of stock. The rush at the start of the season combined with stock houses that might not be knowledgeable about Laars pool heaters results in an extra delay in having a warm, comfortable pool. Parts4heating.com stocks any and all parts for the Laars line of pool heaters and the technicians at the online supplier are able to diagnose any problems pool owners might have meaning the correct parts will be delivered quickly and without need for returns because the wrong part was sent.
Parts4Heating.com can be reached on the web and Laars can be found on the web at laars.com.

The parts supplier www.parts4heating.com continues with upgrades to its site. Based upon feedback it seems that the heating parts supplier has been making adjustments to make it easier to search on Teledyne Laars boiler parts based upon model numbers.
Constant upgrades and changes are in store for the future as well. As parts are added the difficulty of searching could increase in complexity but the distributor is working to add cross-references to allow for easier searching. In addition it is continuing to change its billing and shipping information to allow customers to have a more informed buying experience. All of this will result in the best shop on the Web.
Check out the latest updates and search for the parts you need at www.parts4heating.com

parts4heating.com is a new business with warehouse locations in California and Massachusetts that focuses on support and parts for equipment from Laars Heating Systems. The company was created in late 2006 to fill a need for a source of knowledge of both the workings of the heating systems from Laars as well as the correct selection of parts to solve customer’s problems.
The company’s web site is designed to allow easy searching of parts via part name or part number allowing a fast selection. The site is constantly updated based on feedback from customers to improve the procedure of obtaining the parts needed. Their goal is to fill the gap where parts might not be easily available locally but needed within a short time frame, allowing customers to get their heating systems up and running with a minimum of downtime. Often, the technicians at parts4heating.com will help diagnose a problem and select the correct part for the problem at hand rather than blindly sending parts; this results in a faster return to operation. Further, this passage of information can lead back to local suppliers who may then be able to fill the local need for mechanics around the country. In addition parts4heating.com re-evaluates packaging for parts and verifies that all kits are complete from the factory – correcting any errors that may be found.

On March 6, 2007 Laars announced a recall of their 9600 CB and HWG series of boilers. Apparently the ABS exhaust manifolds of the boiler are prone to crack and leak flue gases from the units. Only boilers with a black, ABS manifolds are affected. Newer units with a grey, CPVC manifold are exempt. Laars has an US$85 labor allowance for the repair of all affected units.
Manifolds can be ordered from the factory by calling 800-900-9276 ext. 4. The repair kit in question is part number R206077 and is being provided at no cost, freight pre-paid to the jobsite by the factory.
Official info on the Laars recall…

Just found an older article in “The Wholesaler” – Laars Heating Systems boilers have been put to use in the City of Los Alamitos as pool heaters for the Joint Forces Training Base. This pool was used for the U.S. Olympic water polo team in 1972 and also hosted the 1952 U.S. National Championship for the same sport. It’s a huge pool: 649,000 gallons and the contractors designed the system to use a Laars Rheos+ 2400 boiler as well as a Laars Pennant 2000. The Rheos+ was a no-brainer: it has 97% efficiency and very low NOx (less than 10ppm) as well as fully modulating operation from 25% up to 100% firing rate. The Pennant (in lead-lag implementation) is a stable and highly efficient system (85%) that is a strong secondary heater. The four-stage controls on the Pennant, while not fully modulating like the Rheos+, allow for meeting of heat demand as necessary for the facility.
Looks like a good system overall and shows what Laars can do for its customers. There aren’t too many places that sell parts for these systems. One good one is parts4heating.com

Have you heard of Teledyne Laars or Waterpik Teledyne Laars? Well, forget about those companies, the pool heater company has been sold. Bradford White the water heater company has purchased Laars Heating Systems. Bradford White purchased Laars Heating Systems early last fall and has already begun to invest heavily in research and development. Bradford White has kept most of the knowlegable Laars Staff which will all but eliminate there learning curve. To all low mass copper manufactures, watch out for Laars!

Laars has taken ideas from Europe and come up with one of the highest efficiency home heating system on the market.
The Mascot is 96% Eff. which blows the competition out of the water, comes in three different sizes and combines heat with continues hot water. The mascot’s low price as well as, coming fully packaged (expansion tank built into the boiler) makes installations a snap and very profitable.
More to come…..
